Our Streamlined Cabinet Renewal Process

Our Mission

“Our mission as a company is to provide you with the best possible customer experience you’ve ever had with a contractor.”

– Co-Founder Mike Pote

We are dedicated to providing homeowners with clear expectations and reliable results. We have developed a signature streamlined process that ensures we deliver consistent, on-time results for all our projects.

A Factory Grade Finish You Can Count On

THE QUALITY OF OUR WORK IS A GIVEN

EVERYTHING we refinish is 100% fully sprayed for a factory finish.

All surfaces are double-sanded. Once before the primer and once after to ensure a strong bond that will eliminate chipping, cracking, and peeling.

All finish coats exceed the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer Association (KCMA) standards. So what we refinish is going to be just as durable as something that comes out of the factory.

Cabinet Renew uses ZERO subcontractors for cabinet refinishing. Anyone in your home is a full-time employee who refinishes cabinets every single day.

All projects (with the exception of specialty finishes and some glaze work) will have the onsite portion complete in only TWO days, whether you have 2 doors or 200 doors!

MOST IMPORTANTLY CABINET REFINISHING IS ALL WE DO! We are by far the most experienced and well-reviewed company in the Gulf Coast. We complete an average of 7-10 projects per week and have a perfect 5-star rating with over 200 reviews between Google and Facebook.

Our Streamlined Process

PREPARE THE WORK AREA

Uninstall doors and drawer faces to be 100% sprayed and refinished offsite.

Mask off any floors, counters, and backsplashes with Feltbuster (a roofing underlayment) which offers maximum protection of your most heavily trafficked areas.

CLEANING AND SANDING

Clean and sand all cabinets.

When we deep clean the cabinets we are removing any build-up that has accumulated over the years.

Once the deep cleaning is complete we will bring in our sanders with built-in HEPA-filtration systems which will ensure minimum dust accumulation within the home.

The sanding is arguably the most important part of this process as it opens up the grain and fibers in the wood to ensure when we spray the primer we achieve the best adhesion results possible.

MASKING AND PROTECTION

We start by ensuring all areas surrounding the cabinets are masked off by paper or plastic to protect your home from any overspray.

We will also mask off any appliances to ensure the same protection.

We then build a temporary wall around the workspace with telescopic poles and large sheets of plastic that will run vertically from the floor to the ceiling.

Finally, we run a ventilation system from the work zone to the outside to eliminate any unwanted odors from the home.

PRIMING AND SANDING

We now have the entire home protected. We’ve masked off where needed, assembled the wall, and ran the ventilation system outside.

We start this part of the process by spraying a catalyzed polyurethane bonding primer. This will create a strong bond that will seal up the wood, creating the proper surface for the finish coat. The primer is also a great stain blocker, which will help block out tannins and other chemical compounds that are naturally found in the wood.

Once the primer is dry it will be lightly sanded with our sanders (still connected to the HEPA-filtration system). This will ensure a great bond of the finish coat. At this time we will also address any issues that we come across and make sure the cabinets are ready to receive a factory finish.

TWO FINISH COATS

Now that we’ve lightly sanded back the primer we are ready to apply our two finish coats.

We use a water-based catalyzed polyurethane imported directly from Italy.

This specialty cabinet finish meets all of the durability requirements set by the KCMA (Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association.) The KCMA sets the standards for the cabinet Industry, and it is extremely difficult for most paints to meet this standard.

After the two finish coats are applied your cabinets will look, last, and feel like they came straight from the factory.

CLEAN THE WORK AREA

We will break down the temporary wall, remove all masking tape, paper, plastic, and dispose of any trash. Your kitchen will look how it did prior to our arrival.

The kitchen will be fully functional without any restrictions. You will, however, still be missing your doors and drawer faces which will arrive the following week to be installed.

Over the next few days your doors and drawer faces will be refinished at our facility in the exact same manner as your framework and boxes. Clean, sand, prime, resand, and two coats of our specialty cabinet finish.

INSTALLATION AND ADJUSTMENTS

After your doors and drawer faces are finished (typically 3-5 business days later) we will bring them back to your home for installation.

After installation, you will be offered a final walkthrough to take a look at your brand-new kitchen!
