The Challenge
This kitchen had great bones, but it was ready for a new chapter. The cabinets wore a dark cherry-toned finish, and the island had room to do a lot more.
The goal was a kitchen that looked brand new and worked harder, too: a spot in the island for a new microwave drawer, a couple of extra drawers, and a base ready for new waterfall countertops. All of it without tearing out cabinets that were still structurally sound. That’s exactly the kind of project we love.
What We Did
“Why buy new? Renew!” isn’t just our tagline, and this kitchen shows why.
We designed it first.
Before anyone picked up a tool, our team designed the island addition in Mozaik, our cabinet design software, so every inch was planned: a new microwave-drawer base cabinet with a custom face frame, plus two new drawers.
We built it in our shop.
The new base cabinet was built in our shop, then brought on site and set right into the island.
We extended the island.
On the back side of the island, we extended the paneling to wrap the new cabinet and give the new waterfall countertops, installed by a separate countertop company, a clean, finished base to sit on.
We refaced the cabinets.
Our crew installed all-new solid maple five-piece reface doors throughout the kitchen in Sherwin-Williams Perfect Greige (SW6073), with the island in Cotton White (SW7104). The cabinet frames were refinished as part of the reface, and we added 9 new end panels for a seamless, finished look.
We added the finishing touch.
New cove crown molding now runs throughout the kitchen, giving the cabinets a polished, built-in look all the way to the top.
The Result
Bright, fresh, and so much more functional. The island now has a built-in microwave drawer, two new drawers, a paneled back, and waterfall ends that look like they were always meant to be there. With new doors, refinished frames, and crown molding throughout, the whole kitchen feels lighter, cleaner, and completely brand new, without the cost or chaos of a full remodel.
